KFM Newz Weekend Late Edition Saving What Matters
Hiya furry internet friends. Sunday Selfie edition is late.
Mom's Microsoft phone update corrupted all the apps including internet and texting. Went to ATT and another carrier to get a new phone, still no phone. FYI Late Edition Mewz am subject to updates until next post.
Disney/National Geographic, plan shut down of Your Shot, the culturally iconic online photographic community
Lulu here on another Sunday - where were we last week? The mom was busy saving kitties and some furry impawtant information - our photos on National Geographic Your Shot. Disney bought National Geographic and has decided that one million photographers don't count! As if we am all lemmings and 10 million photos can magically migrate to Instagram by October 31st.
Mom on a Save Your Shot Photo: replacing Your Shot with Instagram is like firing a master chef, then offering a job at fast food. Or asking 5 cats to choose a cluttered garage or fresh air freedom. IG has no copyright security or tech support. A YS friend, “over one million photographers use YS daily. We are a passionate group all over the world” all walks of life and cultures inspiring each other through the art of photography. Sure a cat likes a cheeseburger now and then but I still want my salmon sauteed in catnip! - the two platforms are not the same. Instagram cannot replace Your Shot. What is even worse is that photos on Instagram are being hacked and picdeer is stealing content.
Please go to Your Shot and see what the whole world will be losing when Your Shot shuts down. Even if you are not a photographer... don't have to sign in. Take a look at the photos there, you can start with our page https://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/profile/712923/#b/ and then check out the photo feed for today. When that annoying popup shows about closing the site, just click the X in the upper right. Many photographers are leaving already and very sad.
We wish we could join Sparks for this protest to keep Your Shot going, but McGuffy's reader is down because someone hacked into their website (they need your purrs). Your Shot is so much like Annie's vision: "If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” That's what Your shot has been doing for the past decade and more. Please help by signing the petition - almost to 5000 signatures. http://chng.it/v5nGdSM2rN -Purrz from Lulu and Katie the Mom
UPDATE ON THE CAT RESCUE MEWZ see this link By Katie Kat the Mom
On September 3, I went with the owner of the cats to save the two that Wichita Animal Services would allow her to have, the two that her immediate family was supposed to not let the shelter take. Between the two of us we had to pay $350.00 to get them out. A rescue friend put pull tags on the two cats the day before so we could get come get them on the 3rd vs being pts that day. Here is the kicker: only the owner could get these two out of pet jail because they "tested positive for Leukemia"and would be pts because of the test. She took them both to her vet and retested. Yeti was Negative and Alice had antibodies from Leukemia shot!! They would have died for no reason.
This left about 4 to 5 of her cats still in danger of being put to sleep. One of them allegedly tested positive for Leukemia as well and do not know his fate. This is so heartbreaking. Although I had good news to share last weekend, just didn't feel like good news.
Then I got a text message last Wednesday that Johnny another one of her kitty kids was still alive with no adoption or rescue pull yet. My friend tagged Johnny and another kitty that she thought was hers because they were going to die the next day. The cute little orange and white kitty boy wasn't one of the owner's yet by miracle saved due to the mistake! These two kids were free for a rescue to pick up (yes free when we had to pay). These two sweeties are waiting as transport hold at my house to Cattails in Manhattan Kansas where they will have a new start in life. Only waiting to find a ride. (my phone camera was corrupted. Johnny and Lucky Boy could only take fuzzy selfies)
Please keep these babies in your purrz. Johnny and Lucky Boy need to get to Manhattan, Kansas by early Friday morning and we still do not have a car...
If you can help reimburse KFM for saving Alice and Yeti - we paid half $175 - we can use those funds to rent a car on Friday morning to get these two kids to safety and on their way to a forever home. We are setting up a get funding to help Katiez Furry Mewz continue to help cat and owners in need. In the meantime please paypal to laugh_safely at yahoo dot com. -Purrz from Katie Kat, the mom - Katiez Furry Mewz
We are joining Sunday Selfies late and Aww Mondays at Comedy Plus too
cause we gots some awws here fur sure.

Sounds like it's busy at your place! Your Mom is doing good things in this world!
ReplyDeleteI always keep all the kitties and pups in my prayers. They all deserve a forever home.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
I will be praying for all these babies.
ReplyDeleteSending lots of purrs to you and the cats, so you can carry on the good works and save these guys. As for all these photos being dumped on Instagram, well, I am astounded that they can do that or would want to do that. But it does seem to be the cost cutting way these days—all about costs and not about social happines and spirit and fun.
ReplyDeletePurrs

Yes - just about money to Disney... which doesn't bode well their family fun image.
DeleteSorry 'bout your foto purroblems. We had the same thing last year with flickr. Fankfully, we got a 6 TB external hard drive and put all our fotos there. We're sendin' purrayers. Big hugs
